Austin meets Cuba

As a Florida girl used to a good Cuban Sandwich, I’ve searched out the pressed panini near and far.

The sandwich at Cuba512 hits the spot with all the right flavors.

The slow-roasted pork is tender with crispy bits mixed in and topped with Swiss cheese, ham, mustard and pickles all pressed between a super crispy on the outside, yet soft inside Cuban bread.

The best part about Cuba 512 is that the sides offered are also traditionally Cuban.

The choices offered range from sweet maduros (sweet, caramelized plantains), marquitas (plantain chips) and yucca con mojo.

They also serve traditional Cuban meals such as ropa Viejo and arroz con polloi a la Cubano. And, dont forget the beans and rice.

The downtown location is in the 900 block of Congress Avenue.
A giant photo of Havana covers the wall.
